Damage Policy – Clear & Fair

At Wanted Board Rentals, we believe in simple rules and total transparency.
No hidden clauses — just great boards and honest conditions.

During checkout, you have the option to add Damage Cover (+15% of your total booking value).
This optional protection helps reduce your financial responsibility in case of accidental damage, so you can enjoy your session with extra confidence.

What the Damage Cover Includes

If Damage Cover is selected, it provides the following protection:

•  Full coverage of small dings

• Full coverage of medium dings

• Coverage for a broken leash

• Coverage for up to two (2) broken fins

  • Broken fins and/or leash must be returned in their damaged condition

• Coverage of major damage costs up to €80

  • This includes structural damage and even snapped boards

If repair costs exceed €80, the customer is responsible for the remaining balance above that amount.

What the Damage Cover Does Not Include

Damage Cover does not apply to:

• Theft

• Loss of equipment

• Equipment not returned

• Intentional damage or reckless behaviour

• Damage caused by leaving equipment unattended

• Damage caused by extreme heat exposure (e.g., board left inside a closed vehicle in the sun)

Without Damage Cover

If Damage Cover is not selected, the customer is fully responsible for all damages occurring during the rental period.

In case of damage, we charge only the actual repair cost quoted by our repair partner. We do not apply markups or administrative surcharges.

If a board is beyond repair, the customer may be charged up to its agreed replacement value.

Damage Charges (If Damage Cover Is Not Selected)

If Damage Cover is not selected at checkout, the renter is fully responsible for any damage occurring during the rental period.

Below is a general repair price guide:

• Small ding (up to 10cm): €35

• Medium ding (10–20cm): €50

• Large ding (20cm+ or multiple impacts): €70

• Broken leash: €20

• Single broken fin: €25 (per fin)

• Fin box repair: €50

• Snapped board (repairable): €100 – €120

• Board beyond repair / total loss: the agreed replacement value stated in the rental agreement

All charges reflect standard repair costs. Final amounts may vary depending on the extent and complexity of the damage.

We do not apply administrative fees or additional markups beyond the repair assessment.

Equipment Inspection

All equipment is inspected before and after rental.
We may document the board’s condition through photos and notes.

Any visible issue must be reported immediately at pickup.

The boards current value is also agreed uppon at this stage

Our Approach

We are surfers ourselves.
This policy exists to protect both sides and to ensure our equipment remains in excellent condition for everyone.

If damage occurs, we handle each case fairly and transparently.
